Melinda Sanchez serves as the Child Development Associate (CDA®) Coordinator at the Early Childhood Innovation Center (ECIC) at Delaware State University. With more than 25 years of experience supporting educators, children from infancy through high school, and families, Melinda brings extensive experience in education, professional development, and workforce support to her role.

As the CDA® Coordinator, Melinda supports the delivery of the ECIC’s statewide CDA® programming and helps early childhood professionals navigate their path toward earning the credential. She oversees CDA® cohorts, monitors scholar progress and retention, supports instructors and coaches, coordinates program delivery, and advises scholars throughout the credentialing process. Her work helps ensure that educators have access to the guidance, resources, and support they need to successfully move from application through credential completion.

Melinda also serves as a Professional Development Specialist (PDS), bringing additional expertise in CDA® portfolio review, professional development, and the credentialing process. Her experience allows her to provide informed guidance to scholars as they demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and competencies required of early childhood professionals.

Melinda’s journey with the ECIC began as a CDA® Coach and Facilitator, providing individualized, relationship-based coaching and cohort support to early childhood professionals. Her dedication to scholar success and professional development led to her transition into the CDA Coordinator role, where she now contributes to the continued growth and delivery of CDA® opportunities across Delaware.
