It helps people see what is possible.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>More Than 20 Years in Early Childhood Education<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more than 20 years, Rosemary Mohr has built her career around early childhood education, experiencing the field from many different perspectives along the way. She has served as a lead teacher in infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms, as an Assistant Director and Director, and has worked in private and nonprofit programs as well as a college campus lab school. Each role has deepened her understanding of both the opportunities and the challenges early childhood educators encounter throughout their careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those experiences eventually led Rosemary toward a part of the work she found especially meaningful: supporting other educators. While she remained passionate about helping young children thrive, she discovered that mentoring colleagues, sharing resources, and helping educators recognize their own abilities was just as rewarding as working directly with children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am especially passionate about helping educators achieve their goals, such as earning their Child Development Associate (CDA\u00ae) credential, improving classroom practices, or advancing in their careers,\u201d Rosemary shared. \u201cSeeing them gain confidence and succeed is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Coaching That Starts With the Educator<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, Rosemary brings that passion to her work as a Child Development Associate (CDA\u00ae) Facilitator and CDA\u00ae Coach serving Sussex County, as well as a Professional Development Specialist with the Council for Professional Recognition. Her approach is rooted in the belief that coaching should never simply be about giving instructions or checking requirements off a list. Instead, it should help educators recognize the strengths they already possess while giving them the support they need to continue growing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEffective coaching means building a collaborative relationship that empowers educators to grow professionally while recognizing and valuing their unique strengths, experiences, and goals,\u201d she said. \u201cTo me, coaching is not about telling someone what to do; it is about listening, asking meaningful questions, and guiding reflection that leads to lasting improvement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That philosophy becomes especially important during the CDA\u00ae journey. Educators may enter the process with years of classroom experience but still question whether they are prepared to earn a professional credential. Others may be balancing coursework and portfolio requirements alongside work, family responsibilities, and the everyday demands of caring for young children. Rosemary sees coaching as an opportunity to provide encouragement while helping each educator find practical ways to keep moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>When Confidence Changes What Comes Next<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One educator, in particular, reminded Rosemary just how powerful that support can be. The educator entered a CDA\u00ae cohort unsure of her abilities and questioning whether she truly belonged in the early childhood profession. Rather than focusing only on what needed to be completed, Rosemary worked with her to identify her strengths, reflect on what was already happening in her classroom, and establish achievable goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over time, Rosemary watched her confidence begin to change. The educator started recognizing the positive impact she was already having on the children and families she served. When she ultimately earned her CDA\u00ae credential, the accomplishment represented much more than completing a professional requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe shared that the process had not only strengthened her teaching skills but had also helped her believe in herself as a professional,\u201d Rosemary recalled. Even more importantly, earning the CDA\u00ae did not become the end of her journey. She set a new goal: pursuing an associate degree in early childhood education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That progression reflects something Rosemary sees frequently among the educators she supports. The CDA\u00ae credential may be the milestone everyone can see, but some of the most important growth happens along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Confidence is often one of the first changes. Educators who initially hesitate to describe themselves as professionals begin recognizing the knowledge, experience, and skills they already bring to their work. Reflection also becomes an important part of that growth, encouraging educators to think more intentionally about their classroom practices and not only what they do, but why they do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rosemary also sees educators develop a stronger professional identity. As scholars explore best practices, build their portfolios, and demonstrate the CDA\u00ae Competency Standards, many begin to see themselves differently. They recognize their role not only as caregivers or classroom teachers, but as early childhood professionals, advocates for children, and partners with families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Impact Behind the Recognition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is this commitment to helping educators recognize their potential and continue building on it that led the Early Childhood Innovation Center to honor Rosemary as the&nbsp;<strong>2026 ECIC Coach of the Year<\/strong>&nbsp;during the 2026 Delaware RISE Scholarship Recognition Ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"889\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/ecic.desu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Image-8-19-26-at-3.50-PM-889x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2856\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ecic.desu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Image-8-19-26-at-3.50-PM-889x1024.jpeg 889w, https:\/\/ecic.desu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Image-8-19-26-at-3.50-PM-260x300.jpeg 260w, https:\/\/ecic.desu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Image-8-19-26-at-3.50-PM-768x885.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/ecic.desu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Image-8-19-26-at-3.50-PM-1333x1536.jpeg 1333w, https:\/\/ecic.desu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Image-8-19-26-at-3.50-PM-10x12.jpeg 10w, https:\/\/ecic.desu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Image-8-19-26-at-3.50-PM.jpeg 1354w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 889px) 100vw, 889px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The recognition celebrated the mentorship, individualized support, collaboration, and commitment to educator success that Rosemary brings to her work. It also acknowledged something that is not always visible when an educator reaches a milestone: the conversations, encouragement, reflection, problem-solving, and steady support that often happen behind the scenes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being named Coach of the Year was a meaningful moment for Rosemary, but she sees the recognition as connected to something much larger than herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cReceiving this award affirmed the importance of investing in educators, building meaningful relationships, and creating opportunities for professional growth,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The honor also strengthened a belief that has guided her work throughout her career: meaningful professional growth is built through relationships. Educators are more likely to take risks, ask questions, work through challenges, and envision what comes next when they know someone is invested in helping them succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEvery scholar\u2019s journey is unique,\u201d Rosemary said, \u201cand being trusted to walk alongside them as they grow professionally is one of the greatest privileges of my career.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Helping Educators See What Is Possible<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After more than two decades in early childhood education, Rosemary\u2019s work continues to reflect the connection between supporting educators and strengthening the experiences of the children and families they serve. Every educator who gains confidence, strengthens their practice, earns a credential, or decides to pursue the next degree carries that growth back into their classroom, program, and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>2026 ECIC Coach of the Year<\/strong>&nbsp;recognition celebrates Rosemary Mohr for the work she has already done, but her story is also about what continues from here: another educator encouraged to keep going, another professional milestone brought within reach, and another early childhood educator beginning to see what is possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Congratulations, Rosemary Mohr, 2026 ECIC Coach of the Year.
